A carved wood fish gutted and drying, pierced with a hole through which a chord would have passed. It is an exceptionally long (Sashi) Netsuke and appears to be signed Shozan. Dried fish like this was typical travelling food in 19th c. Japan. It is 11 inches (18.5 cm) long and in excellent condition.

Antique Japanese Bokuto Dragon Shaped Doctors Sword Edo, sagemono, samurai, netsuke MOR4580 A dragon sails along, feet tucked in, mouth open in a growl…the body forming the shape of a curved short sword. It is 47 cm (19 inches) long and in overall fine condition.
It is said that these wooden swords were produced from the mid to late Edo period, in lieu of swords for those not allowed to carry weapons (all but samurai)...

An exquisitely carved pipe case of stag antler in the form of an elongated gourd with a brass leaf hinged to allow the end of the pipe to be inserted. It comes with a basketwork miniature box lined with antique cloth and featuring metal hardware. The gourd is 20 cm (8 inches) long, the box 7.5 x 5 x 4 cm (3 x 2 x 1-1/2 inches). Both are in fine condition. The gourd is signed.
