A large lidded bowl for food service lacquered black and decorated with autumn grasses in gold maki-e dating from the Momoyama period (16th century). It is published in a catalog and comes with paperwork from December 1974 when it was loaned to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York for an exhibition on the Art of the Momoyama period, with the agreement from the Department of Cultural Affairs for loan, as well as a loan agreement for an exhibition held from April 2nd to the 21st of 1982 at two venues in Osaka and Nagoya. It is 20 cm (8 inches) diameter, 18 cm (7 inches) tall and in overall excellent condition considering it is over 400 years old! It is published in at least two books, the catalog from the Metropolitan Museum Exhibition (1975, Page 120 item number 68)/ as well as Momoyama Bijutsu Meisakuten (1982, page 37 figure 39). Both museum catalogs are included.
