Antique Japanese Burl Wood Tea Service Tray
Please refer to our stock # MOR7905 when inquiring.
A fabulous wood tray of tiger striped and burled plum enclosed in the original signed wooden box dating from the first half of the 20th century. The joints have been covered in brownish red lacquer, popular in the 1930s and it has an uncanny Art-Deco feel. There is a tea signature in gold on the side of the tray as well as on the inside of the box. It is 24.5 cm (9-3/4 inches) square and in excellent condition.
As a former woodworker, I am privately a fanatic about beautiful wood grains, and this piece is one of the best I have seen.
