A massive two panel screen, definitely made for exhibition (as this would not fit a Japanese house) dating circa 1960 by Takeuchi Mimei featuring a family of deer whiling away a warm spring afternoon in the shade of wisteria draped trees festooned with fresh green leaves while a fawn ventures down to the stream for a drink in the foreground. The scene is performed with thick textured pigment on paper, a feature of art from this era. It is 74 inches (188 cm) high, 102 inches (259 cm) wide and is in excellent condition.
Due to size the cost of shipping will be accrued separately.
Takeuchi Mimei (1901-1986) was born in Fukuoka, Studied under Kawabata Ryushi and Domoto Insho In Kyoto. He settled in Osaka. His work was accepted into the Bunten, Shotokutaishiten and Nipputen among others, and was recipient of many awards.
