Ikeuchi Kaho Mid-century Carved Lacquer Tray
Please refer to our stock # MOR7102 when inquiring.
A bold floral pattern in black and red on has been carved through to reveal the pale cream-colored base on this striking serving tray by Ikeuchi Kaho. Below is a near matte black lacquer. It is 38 cm (15 inches) diameter and in excellent condition. This is a well known design style by the artist. It comes in a custom made cloth-bound box.
Ikeuchi Kaho (1903-1967) was a lacquere artist trained in the carved lacquer tradition of Kagawa prefecture. He exhibited with the Bunten and Nitten National Exhibitions and Nihon Dento Kogeiten National Traditional Crafts Exhibition as well as the Shokoten (National Industrial Crafts Exhibition) where he was awarded.
