Large Antique Japanese Signed Bronze Dish, Gold Inlay
A tai, symbol of congratulations (for its name is a synonym for the word) swims through roaring waves on this exquisitely cast heavy bronze dish signed on the reverse and enclosed in a custom made kiri-wood box. The orange peel texture absorbs light, and focuses our attention on the glistening gold and shakudo inlayed eyes. The dish is 14-1/2 inches (37 cm) diameter and in overall fine condition with only minor discoloration and handling marks on the reverse (see photos). The signature appears to read Takasugi no Saku.
