Huge Antique Japanese Temple Dragon Scroll, Dogyoku
A massive Temple scroll depicting a dragon twisting through violent dark clouds by Kageyama Dogyoku enclosed in an age darkened wooden box. Dogyoku was a later Edo artist (Bunka Bunsei Eras) associated with the Kano School, where he was known by the name Kano Eisho. The ink on silk painting is bordered in patterned green silk and features large black lacquered wooden rollers. This scroll is 4 feet by 90.5 inches (120.5 x 230 cm) and is in fine condition, likely remounted sometime in the early 20th century. All of this is part of a Temple collection which was vacated and sold which we were fortunate to rescue from the wrecking ball. Due to the size this will require special shipping consideration if going to Europe.
