Edo p. Japanese O-shiro-zukushi Byobu, Castle Screen B
Travelers populate the highways and mountain paths of this fine pair of Edo period screens showing castles and sites along the old routes of Japan starting with Kyoto, and through Zeze in Otsu to Edo in the West and Kameyama in Kameoka to the East. All is quite deftly painted with fine detail surrounded in applied gold clouds. Each castle and town is labeled with a gold tablet. The screens are 67 inches by 12 feet (170 x 379 cm).
