Superb Antique Japanese Tetsubin Teapot by Chusaburo
A gorgeous iron tea pot with both a bronze and iron lid signed on the side Oguro-an (the Oguro hermitage or studio) and enclosed in a wooden box signed Chusaburo. There are holes in the sides and handle intimating antiquity and deterioration, creating a worn and intimate feel for such a hard surface and bringing it into the wabi-sabi fold. The bronze lid is heavily mottled in color and the iron lid features a silver ring handle. The piece is 5-1/2 inches (14 cm) square, 10 inches (25 cm) tall (with the handle) and in excellent condition.
