Fine Japanese Zen Tea Ceremony Maki-e Robuchi, sgnd box
Weather worn wood has been perfectly joined with maki-e lacquer-work of pine cones and needles on the shaved and polished top of this gorgeous Robuchi Hearth Frame enclosed in the original signed wooden box by Kyoto artist Koshitsu. In one corner is an insert of kurogaki (black persimmon), one of Japans most sought after woods highly valued for its dynamic dark and light striped grain. The Robuchi is standard dimensions, 16-3/4 inches (42.4 cm) square, 2-3/4 inches (7 cm) thick and is in excellent condition.
