EXQUISITE Nasubi Shaped Kogo Incense Holder
A stunning incense container for use with a set of tea implements shaped like an eggplant enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Nasu. Black lacquer spreads over the wood like glass, the removable stem lid textured perfectly. The inner cinnabar contrasting with the outer black and the smooth surfaces contrasting with the roughened natural stem are a playground for the senses. Just less than 2 inches (4.5 cm) in diameter, it is in perfect condition. Appealing to the Japanese artist because of its shape and deep color, the eggplant the motif is often seen in Japanese art, ripe in both seasonal connotations and auspicious intent. The word (nasu) is a homophone for success.
