FINE MODERN Japanese SILK SCROLL, SEKIGUCHI
Snow falls silently on bare trees, the only sound the imagined crunch of snow under a lone figure making his way towards a collection of traditional style huts half buried in the distance. Beyond the sky is silver gray, the hint of a forest in the dark shadows dominating the horizon. The lovely semi modern scroll is by Sekiguchi Shugaku (Akitake), a prominent figure in contemporary Nihonga. The scene is set in a field of pale blue patterned cloth and features bone rollers. It measures 18-1/2 by 72 inches (47 x 183 cm). There is a small yellow stain in the lower left corner, and above the far right tree, otherwise is in excellent condition.
