| A striking contemporary Chawan enclosed in the original box signed Hisashi (Kawai HIsashi), one in the line of the great Kawai Kanjiro. The gritty white clay has been deeply carved with swirling leaf like patterns. The inside of the unusual piece is smooth, and the entire body is covered in glassy green glaze, which has pooled deep and dark in the recesses. The deep bowl measures 5-1/4 inches (13.5 cm) in diameter, 3-1/2 inches (9cm) tall. | ||||||||
