A natural wood burl like two shishi lion-pups play fighting. It is worn with age and care, on a dark-wood stand and comes enclosed in a collectors kiri-wood box. It is roughly 15 x 12 x 10 cm (6 x 5 x 4 inches). There is a break to one fret on the table leg, otherwise is in overall excellent condition.
Japanese tend to have great admiration for such accidents of nature, as seen in the world of display stones, gourds, ishigami objects and root-wood sculptures. They are collected and prized over generations.
