Lacquered-bamboo Ko-zutsu Incense Container, Kinjo Ikkokusai
Please refer to our stock # MOR7014 when inquiring.
A wasp flies over the grape vine burgeoning with sweet fruit on this bamboo incense container by Kinjo Ikkokusai IV (1876-1961), signed Ikkokusai with kao stylized signature enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The bold design is performed in thick colored lacquer on square bamboo, the stopper of dark wood. It comes in the original cloth sleeve. The box is titled and signed by the artist Budo Moyo kadotake kozutsu (incense container with Grape design, made of square bamboo) and signed within Kinjo Ikkokusai in his 67th year followed by two seals. It is 38.5 cm (15-1/2 inches) long and is in fine condition. The box was crushed once, and has some repairs and replaced wood, but retains the original signed and titled lid.
