A spectacular example of the timid yet capricious cranes among pines and crashing waterfalls prancing across the six panels of this anonymous mid-Edo period painted screen. Thick pigments on paper with applied gold flake. The screen is 370 x 172 cm (146 x 67-1/2 inches). It has been completely remounted and restored using antique silks for the border reflecting the original. Damage along the far right spine was repaired at that time (see close-up photos). For more photographs please inquire.
