Edo p. Silver Inlayed Japanese Samurai Armor, Dragons
Please refer to our stock # SAR6932 when inquiring.
Dragons in gold and silver proliferate on the five iron plates of this unusual Samurai Cuirass dating from the mid Edo period (18th c,). The right-side hinged plates are split into top and bottom, kept fast with a chord on top, and a hinged locking door on bottom. Suspended from the waste are five rows of black lacquered Kusazuri. Made for an adult, it is in overall fine condition, with a few severed chords typical of age and some wear to the cloth shoulder plates.
