A bronze boxed inlayed with silver, shakudo and other precious metals by the Hattori Tokei Ten, preeminent purveyors of art in the ritzy Ginza district of Tokyo. In the sides are engraved an image of telegraph poles with wire strung between, an unusual theme today but one that would have been at the forefront of modernity in the opening years of 20th century Japan. The box is 13 x 9.5 x 4 cm (5 x 4 x 1-1.2 inches) and is in overall excellent condition.Into the base is engraved upon the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Yokohama Densen Seizo Kabushiki Kaisha (making this box date to 1916).
