An antique Japanese Ryukyu Oil Jar from the Island of Okinawa covered in dark glaze with four “ears” for tying and hanging the pot. It is 9-1/4 inches (23 cm) tall and in excellent condition. This is the type of pottery which, in the 1930s, inspired Hamada Shoji, Bernard Leach and Kawai Kanjiro and thus the Mingei movement in pottery, perhaps one of the most influential art movements of the 20th century.
