ANTIQUE Japanese BAMBOO HANGING BASKET
A lovely antique bamboo basket, made to be either suspended or wall mounted, in the form of a birds nest. I am afraid I do not know the English name for this bird, but it is a Remiz Pendulinus. Twisting from the top of the teardrop form is a braid of bamboo rope which hangs down from the top where it forms a loop for hanging, circles the opening and tangles once around itself before fading off to the side. An additional loop of braid on the back allows for wall mounting. A wedge of bamboo inside serves as the water pot. It is 14-1/2 inches (37cm) in total length.
