| A haunting crackled glaze of pale yellow and cream with clouds of gray covers the faceted sides of this exquisite antique Mentori Chawan of light soft clay. Inside it is filled with color from years of use. The bowl glows in the dim candle light of the tea room, like the spirit of some past tea master kneeling beside the kama. A stamp beneath appears to read Mukashi (Long Past), but is partly obscured by glaze which makes it difficult to be sure. It measures 11 cm (4-1/4 inches) diameter, 9 cm (3-1/2 inches) tall and is in excellent condition. Choice pieces from a collection of unusual tea accoutrements recently acquired. | |||||||||||
