Incredible attention to detail defines this large Pagoda entirely gilded in gold. It is 32 inches (81.5 cm) tall, 16 inches (41.5 cm) square at the base and in excellent condition. This would have been displayed in a Butsuma as a reliquary container. Both upper and lower doors open to reveal gold lined chambers in which the Buddhist objects could be stored. A couple of the small bells dangling from the eaves have been replaced or re-hung with wire.

The powerful image of a leaping carp surmounts this sumptuous lacquer box dating from the first half of the 20th century. Outside, the fish, in various hira-maki-e shades of precious metal powders, launches from the sculpted waves. Inside the box is a serene nashiji gold powder, with intimated mist inside the lid. The base is simple ro-iro black. Signed in red lacquer inside the box lid, it is 23 x 25.5 x 5.5 cm (9 x 10 x 2 inches) and in excellent condition,

Puppies roll around the silk panels of this fully restored two panel screen by Sakaguchi Isso. Judging by the style of the mounting it was originally a framed exhibition work transferred to a screen. We have had the screen re-mounted reflecting the original style without re-painting. The playful creatures huddle together in the sun for a morning nap on a ground of fallen leaves simulated with ura-haku, a technique of applying metal gilding to the back of the silk before mounting...

These guys have attitude! A massive wooden carving of two frogs taken from a dark burl of hardwood, likely chestnut, showing beautiful grain in the smooth sections, almost appearing wet, with the rough natural texture of the wood elsewhere giving a true sense of the Ibo-gaeru toad. They are expertly rendered with stoic expressions. Both are quite muscular, the top character poised as if he is about to leap. The carving is 40 x 63 x 47 cm (16 x 24 x 19-1/2 inches) and weighs 22 kg (48 pounds)...

A ni-gyo-sho 2 line calligraphy, ink on paper by Fukuda Kodojin dating from the 1920s or 30s. The poem reads Sha-sha Kanzanji saranashi ittoso, Shofu akaru sei-sei suigetsu Terasu Jo-Jo There are many allusions in the poem, and taking them into account can change the meaning somewhat.
