The powerful image of a leaping carp surmounts this sumptuous lacquer box dating from the first half of the 20th century. Outside, the fish, in various hira-maki-e shades of precious metal powders, launches from the sculpted waves. Inside the box is a serene nashiji gold powder, with intimated mist inside the lid.
