A large Art Deco Bronze Vase enclosed in the original wooden box signed Koshun (Hiramatasu Hiroharu 1896-1971) and dating from the 1930s. The vase has a deep red, slightly mottled patina typical of the era. The body rises from a clear and simple shape to ringed neck, with sculpted handles that complete the quintessential Deco style. A lucky ammer in red decorates the inside of this large bowl by Mamiya Eishu enclosed in a period wooden box. It appears to read Kishoho or Kishohon (the method to satisfaction or the root of satisfaction respectively). The bowl is 7-1/2 inches (19 cm) diameter and in excellent condition. Vertical flutes strike through the orange-peel texture of this large vessel signed on the base and dating from the second quarter of the 20th century. An excellent example of Art-Deco era Japanese interpretations of this style, which was as much an influence on Japanese design as Japanese design had been an influence on it. The vase is 13-1/2 inches (34 cm) tall and in fine condition.

A bronze vessel in the Tsurukubi (crane-neck) form by world famous bronze artist Hata Zoroku (1896-1984) enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The form is unusually elongated, an elegant version of the common Tea Ceremony Shape. This piece is 11-1/2 inches (29 cm) tall and in fine condition, dating from the early to mid 20th century.

Pitted black drapes over the fine orange-peal texture of this Kuro-Raku Chawan by Higaki Soraku I (d. 1983) enclosed in the original wooden box endorsed within. The bowl is 5 inches (13 cm) diameter, 3-1/2 inches (8 cm) tall and in excellent condition. A beautifully formed bowl. Soraku took over the Katsura Kiln, and built it in its current form in 1955 making the decision at that time to concentrate almost uniquely upon tea ceremony wares along with his wife Sohaku. A red Raku Chawan inscribed with the Ichigyosho Tea phrase Seifu hakki yoku ni shozu by Zen Priest Kutsu Deiryu enclosed in a wooden box. The bowl is 4-1/2 inches (11.5 cm) diameter and in fine condition. Kutsu Deiryu (1895-1954) was born into a military family, and was raised from an early age in the strict environment until being diagnosed with Tuberculosis. A Shino glazed bowl inscribed with the characters Jutoku by Zen Buddhist Priest Yamada Mumon enclosed in the original cedar box signed by the potter and made in 1974 for the 500th anniversary of the completion of Tokuju-Ji Temple. The bowl is roughly 5 inches (12 cm) diameter, 3-1/2 inches (8.5 cm) tall and in fine condition.
