Robert has been working with disaster relief group IDRO Japan in the earthquake affected areas of Kumamoto, and this has caused some delays in listing, messaging and shipping. A book of 22 images by Wakasa Seigyo (Butsugai) depicted with ink and light color on paper. The album is 9-1/2 x 13 inches (24 x 33 cm), each painting 19 x 13 inches (48 x 33 cm). A bird in a persimmon tree decorates the front of this Ando Cloisonne writing box enclosed in the original wooden box containing a catalog from the Ando Shippo Company dating circa 1938. Outside is a mixure of raw metal and enamel decoration. Inside is black lacquered nunobari cloth lining with a rosewood tray containg the ink stone and brush rest. A blossoming plum rises majestically on the simulated matt-metal finish of this cloisonné vase by the Ando studio marked on the base. The interior is a rich dark blue, the exterior flat orange peel textured metal gray with the flower laden branches rising up in moriage. The cock stretches his neck in haughty defiance as he struts across the gold panels of this painted screen dated Mid Autumn 1934 and signed Heijo Nushi Shigeo (Yamashita Shigeo). Art deco designs drape like flower petals from the rim of this unusual vessel by Ito Tozan. It is 6 inches (16 cm) tall, signed and stamped on the base. There is some color absorbed into the crackled glaze, no chips cracks or restorations. It comes enclosed in a custom made wooden box.

Sitting demurely, legs folded with her back to the viewer, an oil painting by Yoshii Kosaburo dated 1937 and encased in the original period wooden frame. A pair of hollowed and lacquered coconut shells enclosed with a folding fan in a box decorated by Shimizu Hian. The gold and silver sides of the black lacquered fan are also decorated with calligraphy by this eccentric scholar artist. Inside the box lid is a poem and a painting of a tokkuri and sake cup signed Hian. The two open vessels would have been partly filled with hot water, and the Tokkuri would have been inserted to keep the sake warm. The fan was likely to be used to fan the flames...

An early 20th century boxed set of Sometsuke Sencha tea implements decorated with calligraphy and suiseki stones in cobalt on white. It consists of five tea cups, a cooling pot, tea pot and lid.
