Robert has been working with disaster relief group IDRO Japan in the earthquake affected areas of Kumamoto, and this has caused some delays in listing, messaging and shipping. A pair of hollowed and lacquered coconut shells enclosed with a folding fan in a box decorated by Shimizu Hian. The gold and silver sides of the black lacquered fan are also decorated with calligraphy by this eccentric scholar artist. A bird in a persimmon tree decorates the front of this Ando Cloisonne writing box enclosed in the original wooden box containing a catalog from the Ando Shippo Company dating circa 1938. A cinnabar mizusashi in the shape of an armor box with red Kao signature of Katagiri Sadamasa of Sekishuryu on the side, the craftsman signature on the base, enclosed in the original signed wooden box. Autumn in the Mountains by Shirakura Niho Pigment on silk in a fine brocade border extended with beige and featuring ivory rollers enclosed in the original signed double wood box (nijubako). It is 26 x 56 inches (66 x 143 cm) and is in excellent condition. This is signed with his later art name Kanyu. A dragon rides in a swirl of movement atop this silver and damascened Koro incense burner by Chosa Yoshiyuki. The sides are decorated with images of plum and pine.
