The keshiki on these five memezara plates by Nakamura Donen of the Yagoto Kiln is spectacular. Dark liquid glaze blankets the rich candy colored ame-yu, highlighting the folds in the clay left from forming on a piece of cloth. On one dish the thicker area of glaze is fractured, causing that area to shine as if glass shards were embedded in the clay.
