Goma speckles and ash cover the top of this beautiful rolled lotus leaf dish dating from the later Edo (19th c.) enclosed in an old wooden box. The veins of the leaf stand out prominently on the back and underside. The bottom also shows charring and heat scorching in sharp contrast to the thick deposit of ash glaze on the top. The dish is 30 x 19.5 x 6 cm (12 x 8 x 2-1/2 inches). There are 2 old repairs to the edges, otherwise is in fine condition.
