A large Mandala image depicting in vivid detail a plethora of deities surrounding a central seated Amidha figure dating from the later Edo period titled Hanjaku Juroku Zen-Shin (The Sixteen Gods of (greater and lesser vehicle)Zen Buddhism). Eleven holy figures stand on either side of Amiddha, Guardian Deities, Vengeful Kings and Saints. A 19th century painting of the Guardian Deity Bishamonten standing steadfast on the head of a demon dating from the 19th century. The painting is performed with pigment and applied gold on paper, bordered in cloud patterned silk. The painting has been remounted sometime in the 20th century. The scroll is 44 x 112 inches (112 x 278 cm) and in fine condition. All of this is part of a Temple collection which was vacated and sold which we were fortunate to rescue from the wrecking ball.

A large Temple scroll depicting a tiger in bamboo snarling at the sky, the painting dating from the early to mid Edo period (17th-18th century) The painting is taken from a fusuma sliding door, as evidenced by the handle hole repaired but still visible in the left center of the image. Travelers populate the highways and mountain paths of this fine pair of Edo period screens showing castles and sites along the old routes of Japan starting with Kyoto, and through Zeze in Otsu to Edo in the West and Kameyama in Kameoka to the East. All is quite deftly painted with fine detail surrounded in applied gold clouds. Each castle and town is labeled with a gold tablet. The screens are 67 inches by 12 feet (170 x 379 cm). The screens are being sold as a set.
